Dallas Movers and Moving Companies info.
Movers, Moving Companies- Scams they use to make money, laws they break.

Today in a fit of procrastination and contemplation I realized that I need to inform people about rogue movers and tactics they use. The number one tactic that moving companies use is "low Balling". Many people make the mistake of trying to get the lowest estimate, somtimes on the phone. Low estimates mean nothing. Customers need to hire a mover by hourly. or by pound if its long distance... Get the lowest hourly rate possible. If its by the pound, get the lowest per pound rate. ALWAYS GET A CONTRACT BEFORE THE MOVE, NOT ON MOVE DAY .Check the contract for extra fees. How much the movers charge for extra items, or extra pounds. Do not book a mover by cubic foot!!!!! Most scams are pulled this way. If you book a mover by the pound, they have to(by law)weigh the truck before and after pickup a a certified weigh station.... Make sure and get copies.

This is the biggest piece of info you should know:

By law if its an out of state move, you are only required to pay 110% of original estimate (keep copies, sign at least 2 weks ahead if possible) .

THEY CANT HOLD YOUR BELONGINGS IF YOU PAY THIS, EVEN IF YOU OWED 1 million. They hold your things until a doubled estimate... The police dont know these laws. They always say its a civil matter.... just remember they are suppossed to bill you after 30 days.........and you get yor stuff.

These guys have honest movers working for them, and they are a member of the BBB Dallas Movers
